In this video I’m going to show you how to install the Pinterest “hover” button to your website or WordPress blog.  Pinterest is becoming a major player in the Social Media space and a great source to drive targeted referral traffic back to your website.

Note:  This is an “Official Pinterest Hover Button” Video tutorial … NOT one of those Pinterest Hover Plugins that often slows down your sites load time.  It will only take you a couple minutes to install!

Aloha. Welcome to another Social Strategizer Marketing episode. In today’s video, I’m going to show you how to install this Pinterest hover button. This is the button that hovers or pops up when someone hovers over the image on your website.

And you may be asking well why would I want to do that. Well one, it makes it really easy for people who don’t have the Pinterest bookmark like this or even know that they can do that.

It just makes it easier for users when they come to your site to pin your images because one, they hover over the Pinterest image, hover button pops up.

Look at how many times this page has been shared–6,000 plus times, my business quotes page has been shared. So just to give you an idea, when you get traction on a good Pinterest board what can happen.

Okay. So first thing you’re going to want to do is go to Google and type in Pinterest buttons. So Pinterest buttons–turn–and you’re going to click on this Pinterest widget builder and you’re going to get to this page here.

You’re going to choose the Pin It button, and then you’re going to come down here and click on image hover. Then you’re going to choose small or large, rectangular, circular.

Basically you’re going to customize it to fit your site look and how you want it to look, and then you’re going to come down here and grab this code.

And where this code goes is, now depending on your website, most people watching this video are going to have WordPress. I understand not everybody does but for the most part, most people are going to have WordPress.

And there are plugins that you can install into WordPress to make this easy. I’m using the Genesis framework so it has this header and footer built in so it’s really easy.

The takeaway here is you need to take that code that we described here and you need to find where on your website, whether it’s going to be you or your developer, tell them you need to put this little piece of code in the WP Head section of the website.

If it doesn’t have this WP Head section, you can just go to the plugins, right–plugins, add new. Type in here header and footer hooks, and I just did this before I turned on the video, and you can see there’s definitely tons of plugins here, insert headers and footers, and a simple plugin that lets you add scripts like Google Analytics and stuff to your WordPress site.

So that’s exactly what this is, the Google Analytics code is right under that. There’s my Google Analytics code right there. That’s what you’re going to need to do. So if you don’t have this built into your site, go do plugins, get one of those, and then come back.

It will make a little area like this somewhere on the back end of your website and you paste that right in there. Then you’ll have a button like this on all your images, and scroll over any of your images, the Pinterest button will automatically pop up.

I’m going to also make another video on Pinterest where I’m going to show you the–basically it’s like a little pack. Instead of posting normally straight to Pinterest like you would on Facebook or Instagram, you actually go to your website first and that’s how I was able to get this page to be shared 6,000 plus times where Facebook likes is 10.

Very little sharing there because I don’t really promote it. I only use this page to put my quotes on and then I add the text to the quote.

In another Pinterest video, I will show you how to do this, the strategy I use to do it real quickly so it only takes a couple of minutes. And remember, because every time someone pins your image, when it goes out to Pinterest it actually has a link back to the site.

So watch–bam–right to the business quotes page. So that’s how the Pinterest button tracks all the back-links on Pinterest and the trail. So that’s how–Pinterest just keeps going and going.

That’s how it’s been able to get 6,000 plus shares and those go back to your website. So remember, every time someone pins any image out from your website, it’s going to bring a link with it. It’s the only site that does that.

So if somebody clicks through, it’s going to go right to your website. Wherever that image came from, it’s going to go back to that page.

Now if the goal for someone is to be seen as a discount brand, or a “buy when it’s on sale type company,”  then it’s the best marketing strategy ever.

I personally like to focus on building solid businesses and a long term brand that is positioned properly in the market.

I remember a few years back before Borders Books went out of business, I noticed a trend in their marketing that seemed… well, other than the best ever.

Let Me Explain…

I went to Borders to look for a new marketing book. I think it was “The 22 Immutable Laws Of Branding” by Al Ries… and after I purchased the book, they asked me for my email address to send me updates & offers…

So I accepted. Then from what I remember… about a day or 2 later I received a coupon via email that offered me 20% off my next book. It was one of those “online print and bring into the store” type coupons.

So I did that and got another marketing book the next week at 20% off. Then a couple days later…

I Received Another Coupon Offering Me 30% Off My Next Book…

… so I used that coupon as well and got yet another marketing book.

(I obviously love marketing books :).

Then a few days after that, I got another coupon for 30% off my next book. I didn’t get another book that time, because I was still ready the other 3 books. However, I noticed a trend happening and sure enough every couple weeks or so…

… I received another 30% off coupon via email.

And in a very short time, (about 1 month) the late…

“Borders Books” Trained Me To ONLY Buy A Book When I Got A 30% Off Coupon.

Why would I pay full price knowing that I’d be getting a coupon I could go use any day now?

Well I wouldn’t, unless I really needed a particular book right away… then I would… however you get the point.

See what’s happening here…

I knew that if I waited a week or so… I would get another coupon… and therefore from that point forward I never purchased another full price book again from Borders Books.

“They” trained me to only purchase at a considerable discount.

You Do NOT Want That To Happen To Your Tribe Or Your Bank Account.

Just because you see the big box retailers offering these huge “Black Friday” or “Cyber Monday” or “Whatever” type sales… this doesn’t mean that you… … as a solopreneur or small business owner need to follow the herd.

In fact, it’s probably best that you do the opposite of what everybody else is doing.

“Whatever the great majority is doing, under any given circumstance, if you were do the exactly the opposite, you will probably never make another mistake as long as you live.”

Sure you’ll probably make some sales (Maybe a ton of sales) and get some new customers in the short term…as well as a potentially quick cash infusion… however this is…

NOT A Sustainable Long Term Strategy For Your Business.

It boils down to this. If your company finds the position in the prospects mind of being a discount brand, it will be virtually impossible to change it, ever.

Once you discount a flagship product or course etc, the word gets out quick… and it will start an uphill battle from that point forward to sell the product at the normal full price it deserves.

What To Do Instead?

  • Instead of discounting your online e-course or coaching programs etc… offer a special bonus for all those who buy before the offer ends.

Your bonus should be something awesome thats not on the market and offers great value.

I.E. Your Course or Coaching program is the same price as always, but everyone who buys within this time gets ______ software ($97 Value) free.

If you are a Health Coach you could add 2 live Google Hangout trainings for course graduation and they can ask you any question during the Hangout.

Or if you’re a developer of WordPress plugins and your plugin is an email pop up box… you could offer them fill in the blank email templates so they can get started right away maximizing their new list building plugin.

Or a never before released video training free.

Or a new book thats not on the market yet free.  A Proof copy.

Or a free 4 week tele-conference training. Then put an end date on the offer as to create some real urgency to get your offer while it’s still around.

I’m Not Talking About False Scarcity BS…

I.E.  There’s no limit to ebooks or software really at all, the cost is pretty much $0.  And its not true that I only have so many copies of a e-course, because I have unlimited.

(Unless it’s a membership platform where you get charged if you go over a certain amount of users).

So Back To How To Create True Urgency In An Ethical Way…

Just Be Straight Up Honest And Say Something Like:

Hey… this is a digital product you can download to your computer… and we’re not shipping any…  so obviously there’s virtually unlimited copies available.

However, I’m going to only offer it for the first 500 people who buy as to reward you for taking action. (You could do something like that.  Of course you have to really truly feel this way).

Personally I do. I know how almost anything I’ve ever accomplished was done so by taking action.  By moving forward, not staying where I was at.

So how do we bridge that and still use all the essential marketing elements we need to grow our businesses.

The answer is simple, Honesty.

And sharing your unique gifts.

You can be a peaceful Ninja entrepreneur without sacrificing your core values.

Doing Business In Alignment With Your Core Values Is Key To Abundant Happiness.

Do you now how depressed so many people are… that have way more money that they could ever spend? A lot.

A whole lot. You can offer your gift/gifts to the world, help others solve their problems and create abundance for yourself all at the same time… and maintain happiness… all the way through. Not later, but now! It has to be now.

(Selling & marketing in alignment with you core values is key to Now Happiness in business).

There’s no… “as soon as I get this, then I’ll be happy” (that doesn’t work) … after our basic needs and comforts are met… it’s up to us to keep it going.

Ok,  So Now You’ve Created Your Special Bonus That Will Be Part Of Your Offer.

  • Then email your buyers list and give them the bonus as well.  (This is to make sure you don’t upset anyone who already purchased).
  • If it’s a new product… you could offer an early adopter price as a pre-sell.  Then increase the pricing as the course evolves and has more valuable content.

This will accomplish 2 good things:

  1. It won’t upset your customers who originally purchased your course or coaching program at full price.
  2. It will have the same effect as a “Black Friday or “Cyber Monday” or “Whatever” sale without devaluing your brand and upsetting your customers.

Below was a question that came in when I passed this post around to my Mastermind group… so I figured I should address it here as well.

What Should I Do With All The Products That I No Longer Want To Be Selling? 

Never offer them again?

Many times people move on and want to sell new stuff – so what’s the best and ethical way to deal with this?

Answer: I suggest NOT having a blowout sale and upsetting all your long term customers that have purchased your other courses and programs.

I would probably handle this by simply retiring the product.

Think about it like this.

When Apple retired the 17 inch Mac book pro… did they make a big announcement and discount it?


From what I recall, they quietly retired the product and didn’t really even mention it at all.  They did NOT offer a blowout discount.


I believe it’s for the same reasons I’m making here in this post.  Even though it’s on a completely different scale and a gigantic company…

… they still operate by creating a Tribe of loyal and passionate followers and delivering amazing products, value and consistency to keep it going strong.

All in all the main point here is this:

Always Be Thinking Long Term

Before you create an offer ask yourself:

“How Would I Feel If I Was On The Other End.”

“Treat Others As You’d Like To Be Treated” Goes A Long Way.

What are your thoughts?

If you’ve been discounting your products and services in this way, don’t feel bad… it’s ok.  It’s what almost everyone around you is doing and appears to be a good marketing strategy.

Just Remember “Long Term Positioning” And Move Forward Accordingly.

And just to be clear, this post isn’t to bash anyone…

… my intention is to help people “think outside the marketing box” in hopes they can strengthen their brand positioning in the marketplace so that they can prosper long term and help even more people.

The 7 Simple Steps To Use Facebook Marketing For List Building.

Building Your Email List Is The Most Important “Long Term Tangible Asset” You Can Acquire From Facebook Marketing.

      1. Do Your Facebook Ads Research: Write down the top 15-30 Facebook Fan Page URLs that your ideal clients are most likely a Fan of.   This data is crucial for step 4 as it will be used when setting up your Facebook ads targeting.
      2. Create An Irresistible Free Offer:  This free gift you create should offer a solution to an urgent problem or burning desire that your ideal clients are dealing with currently.  I.E.  a free report, free video series, free coupon, free checklist, free templates etc.
      3. Set Up A Custom FB Tab With An Optin Box:  On your business Facebook Fan Page, you’ll want to set up a custom landing tab with an email optin box inside this custom tab.  You will be driving traffic to this tab & giving away your “irresistible free offer” in exchange for their email.
      4. Drive Targeted Traffic With Facebook Ads:  Use the data from your “research in step 1” and set up a series of Facebook ads that target each of the fan pages you wrote down. Direct that traffic to your custom tab.  You’ll be offering your free irresistible offer in exchange for their email address.  Continue to follow up with your email list and add value.
      5. Add Relevant Value Daily To Your Fans:  Consistently share relevant valuable info with your Fans on your Facebook page.  Don’t just share your own content… also share other pages & sites relevant and valuable content.  Encourage conversation, get feedback and listen closely.  Ask your fans questions, respond to the comments you receive.
      6. Analyze Your Facebook Ads Data:  Use Google analytics to track conversions on your landing pages.  You can also use the Facebook off-site-pixel as well.  (Email me if you don’t know what the off site pixel is).  Split test your ads using different copy, images, demographics, interests targeting and adjust accordingly.
      7. Analyze Your Page Insights:  Look at the demographics of your new fans.  Look at the times your fans are mostly online.  Look at which posts you make get the most reach and engagement. Take note and then adjust your ads accordingly.  Then continue to repeat the 7 step Facebook list building process and watch your email list grow.

In this post we’re going to talk about how the “buying brain” really works.

I’m referring to the “mental and emotional triggers” that drive people to pull out their credit card and buy your amazing products and services.

Once you understand how the buying brain really works you’ll be able to:

  • Clarify your message so it won’t fall through the cracks in this overcrowded marketplace.
  • Turn people’s heads, get their attention and keep it.
  • You’ll know what to say and what NOT to say to get more sales and have a better connection with your ideal clients.
  • You’ll discover exactly what turns people OFF and bores them to death so you don’t make this mistake yourself.
  • Clarify your messaging and positioning in the marketplace so you stand out.

So… before I pull back the curtain on what you need to know about the buying brain… I want to you to consider a very important question:

 Why do you do what you do?

This question is the essence to coming up with your core message so that you can attract your ideal clients.  It may seem like this question doesn’t pertain to your business… but keep reading as this will all start to make sense soon.

People make “buying” decisions based on EMOTIONS, and then they use LOGIC to “justify” their purchases.

How The Buying Brain Really Works

Think about it this way:

You walk into a store and see a nice shirt. You start visualizing yourself in this shirt and start connecting emotionally to it. Then in your mind you may say something to yourself such as… “I need that shirt because it will look good on me, or it will go great with those new pants or new dress” etc.

What just happened?

First, you reacted to the shirt on an emotional level and then started justifying “why” you needed this shirt.

The simple truth is: People buy on emotions and then justify purchases with logic. Now lets look at how the big dogs use this knowledge to open up avalanches of profits into their businesses.

CASE STUDY: Apples $Billion Secret Insights Into The “Buying” Brain

The release of the new iPhone 5c & 5s.

When Apple launched the new iPhone release, I watched the announcements closely and jotted down notes every time I noticed them using “Why-Style-Marketing” or emotional marketing. Here are just a few of the statements that really stood out to me (watch closely now):

11:07 AM “We don’t just pack in feature after feature. We think deeply about experiences we want to create.” (Ok, what just happened there when you read that? Did you feel it? “We think deeply about experiences we want to create” thats a total emotional statement. It’s “words that sell).”

11:03 AM “Technology is at its best and most empowering when it simply disappears.” (Then the next sentence was, iPhone 5S 16GB for $199 etc).

10:29 AM ” We believe the iPhone is an experience.”

11:05 Am “Others don’t talk about this, but we’re going to continue doing so because it’s important to us.” 11:09 AM “Before we close, we want to return to music.”

11:10 AM “We do really love music and celebrating great artists.”

How was Apple® able to create and continue to grow such a huge and loyal following year after year? It’s really quite simple: All the focus is on selling to the EMOTIONAL BRAIN and then backing it up with features and benefits. (VERY VERY POWERFUL!)

When you start your messaging with “WHY”…with what you believe and what you’re passionate about… it magnetically attracts the people that see things the way you do. This is the key to greater profits and fulfillment for any business and business owner.


Think about it. If you were to clearly speak directly to who your IDEAL client is, THEIR emotional desires, that is, what they most want to feel, you will magnetically attract your ideal clients that will be thrilled to give you their money. This is what some call becoming IRRESISTIBLE to your clients.

It’s all about speaking to the EMOTIONAL BRAIN and of course then delivering on your promises.

And in doing so…you won’t have to deal with pain in the butt customers, and in the end, everyone will be much happier. Your clients will get better results because their excited to work with you.

Your customers won’t complain and everyone will be much much happier. It’s a win win all around! Here’s another excellent example of “why or emotional” marketing that I recently saw outside one of the Health Foods stores I frequent on Kauai.

This sign is the first thing you see before walking into their store:


Notice their messaging:

“We believe that the way food is grown or raised is just as important as how it was prepared.”   See what they’re doing here? They’re telling you up front what they believe is important to them… in the hopes that it will resonate with you.  What this does is speak to your emotional brain (The Buying Brain) to what you value… and if it hits home, you’ll most likely become a fan or customer etc.

See how this works? It’s subtle, it feels different… and it’s very effective.

Here’s another example:

Below are a few action steps to help you get clear on your WHY marketing message so you can use these billion dollar secrets in your own business.

Doing this will increase your likability, conversions and sales!

STEP 1:  Answer these questions:

  • What are your top 5 core values? I.E.. Integrity, quality, love, patience & creativity)
  • What you would do if you already had all the money you could ever ask for?
  • Apart from making money, why did you start your business – what change do you want to see in the world?
  • What inspires your to get up in the morning?
  • How do you help people get results?

STEP 2:  Pull out the words that can be used in your marketing.

Do this by showing your customers why you REALLY do what you do. Let them know the WHY behind the brand. The deeper force that truly inspires you. Play with it an all your communication from emails, to sales pages, videos, webinars or whatever.

Here’s how I came up with mine to give you another example.

For me personally, I find total fulfillment in helping others… I mean big time. For me it’s almost an instant cure for sadness or low energy. It took me many years to really realize what drove me and now it couldn’t be more clear.

Whether it’s me helping someone with their marketing so that they can help more people and make more money… or whether I’m showing someone how to make a Superfood smoothie that will boost their energy and help them lose weight.

I believe in making a positive impact in the lives of others. The more I serve others, the better I feel. That’s what drives me.

To see others succeed and it’s infectious.

People feel the difference when we come from a place of authenticity because they know you truly care and are there to add vale & serve…

… and in turn they are happy customers- they got what they needed and hopefully then some… and your business grows…

… and you help even more people.

So following the same 2 steps above, here’s what I came up with and use front and center in all of my marketing.

How To Publish A #1 Amazon Bestselling Kindle Book

The Simple System for Creating a #1 Amazon Bestselling Kindle Book

When I was 19 years old, I dreamed of being a bestselling author. I even started writing my first book back then, mostly just to clarify my values and the life I wished to lead – a life of complete freedom with the ability to choose what I want to do, whenever I want, wherever I want with whomever I want.

It took six years to finally publish my first book on Amazon Kindle, but since then I haven’t looked back. In January, 2013, I had my first month of over 5,000 ebook sales at an average price of over $3 – netting over $12,000 in Kindle royalties.

At that time, I knew I had a great system for marketing my own Kindle books, but I was curious to see if it would work for others. So I posted a few messages on Facebook and Twitter, letting people know I was taking on publishing clients. Luckily, a few Facebook acquaintances were willing to give it a shot.

One of them, Doc Orman, M.D., had some promising ideas for a series of books on stress relief. So here’s how we proceeded:

Step 1. Choosing Your Niche

It’s not enough just to have an idea to “write a book about stress relief.” In a giant category like stress, you need to focus on a niche by creating an “angle” or “hook” that will  clearly tell readers what they can hope to achieve as a result of reading your book.

In this case, we decided “Stop Negative Thinking” was both a great unique promise and a great title. This simple title helped separate the book from all the other generic stress relief books out there. Many people struggle with negative thinking and have no idea why it exists, how the mind works, or how to overcome this challenge.

Luckily, Doc Orman knew, and was able to put that information in the book in a fun, unique, and easy-to-understand way.

Step 2. Choosing Your Title

Luckily, our title matched our topic, but that doesn’t always happen. Most often, you choose the topic first, and only after that will you choose the title.

I’ve found there are a few characteristics of most bestselling book titles:

1) Easy to read, recognize, speak and remember. If readers can’t easily read, recognize, speak and remember your book title, they will have a hard time telling their friends about it. Word of mouth is always the most powerful form of marketing. So set yourself up for success ahead of time by choosing a title that can be easily shared by your readers. Titles like Think and Grow Rich and Tongue Fu! are both great examples of this.

2) Descriptive and not Poetic. Your book title should clearly describe what your book is and how it helps readers. And if your title doesn’t do that, the subtitle had better do it. Otherwise, readers won’t know what the book is about or how it will help them – and that will dramatically reduce your clickthroughs and traffic everywhere.

As an example, Doc Orman had an idea for a book called When Down Means Up. It was a fantastic title because it went along perfectly with the theme of the book. The problem is that you, the reader, have no idea what it means, and you’ll never know until you read the book. That kind of poetic title can throw readers off, even though it was a good title for the book.

Instead, we chose The Choice of Paradox which is not only a play on the bestseller The Paradox of Choice, it’s also a more clear description of what the book is about: how thinking paradoxically can improve your life and your health.

3) Invest the Time. Just as you should spend 80% of your time writing the headline, you should spend at least 80% of your time crafting the title to your book. Don’t just pull one out of thin air without analyzing it from every marketing angle, and especially from the reader’s eyes.

Now that you’ve got the title, it’s time to edit and format.

Step 3. Editing and Formatting for Kindle

I recommend hiring a professional editor. It’s definitely worth the investment. The most common cause for poor reviews on a self-published book are due to poor editing. You can use or to get a large pool of potential editors to choose from. Expect to pay anywhere from half a cent per word for proofreading to five cents a word for very advanced editing help.

Avoid any Kindle formatting services from people who don’t do it day in and day out. Just because someone has formatted a book for Kindle before doesn’t mean they will do it the right way for you.

If you do hire someone to format your book for you, make sure they know what they’re doing (or just have them watch the free training videos and follow along).

Step 4. Publishing

We published the book on Kindle using Amazon’s KDP Select program. It’s free to use and pretty simple. You can sign up for a free account at

You’ll need to verify your account with your personal or company name, tax identification number, address, and bank account information for ETF transfers (unless you’d prefer to be paid by check).

Step 5. The KDP Select Free Promotion Strategy

For the 5-day KDP Select Free promotion, we did the following:

  • Promoted the book on 50+ free book promotion sites, Facebook groups for readers, forums and other sites. See the whole list of Kindle promotion sites here.
  • Posted the book on my Facebook fan page with 14,000+ fans.
  • Used Facebook Promoted Posts to reach 156,475 people on Facebook with the book launch announcement for just $210.58. In addition to all the traffic and downloads, this promoted post led to an extra 158 new Facebook fans as well. I guess people like when you give away free ebooks!
  • Promoted the free book giveaway to our email list of about 3,000 people.
  • Asked friends, family, and peers to share about the book on Twitter and Facebook.
  • Scheduled several Tweets about the free book promotion and mentioned the top Twitter influencers for book readers in the Tweets, asking for reTweets.

Step 6. Pricing

We changed the price to $2.99 in the US store and $1.93 in the UK Store (which equals $1.99 for the reader when Amazon calculates the VAT). This allowed us to capitalize on 70% royalties, netting just over $2 per US sale while keeping the price low enough to make buying a book as easy as possible for readers.

Step 7. Results

The book received 9,907 free downloads during the 5-day free promotion in the US alone. There were over 1,600 downloads in the UK and hundreds in the other international Amazon stores.

In the month following the free promotion, there were over 1,000 sales/borrows in the US and over 500 sales/borrows in the UK, along with a good number of sales in the other international Amazon stores.
